b. Sydney Earle Chaplin, 21 March 1926, LA, California, USA. The boy of Charlie Chaplin and his second wife, celebrity Lita Gray, and called for his dad’s half-brother Syd Chaplin, he was using the Los Angeles Group Theater prior to making his debut in movies with an appearance in his dad’s Limelight (1952). On Broadway he previously roles in several successful displays, including Bells Are Buzzing (1956, that he received a Tony Honor as Best Assisting Actor INSIDE A Musical), Subways Are For Sleeping (1961), and Crazy Lady (1964). His movies from the 50s and 60s had been sporadic and generally undistinguished, including Property FROM THE Pharaohs (1955), Pillars FROM THE Sky (1956) and Four Ladies AROUND (1957). In 1958 he was inside a tv production of Fantastic Town. He produced numerous movies within the 60s and beyond, frequently in Europe. Included in these are Follow That Guy (1961), Seven Men ALONG WITH A Gal (1966) and he was in his dad’s A Countess From Hong Kong (1967). Additional late 60s movies are Gunfighters Pass away Harder, Criminal Encounter (both 1968), The Adding Machine as well as the Sicilian Clan (both 1969). Within the 70s he produced The Agreement (1971), THE GIRL Hunter (a 1972 tv film), Medical Tale (1975, also for tv) and Satan’s Cheerleaders (1977).
