Blending areas of dark electro, dissonant art rock and roll, and plodding indie rock and roll, Suuns, formerly called Zeroes, make use of minimalism within their wide-open (and frequently paranoid) appear. After their initial EP, that was also entitled Zeroes, they documented a full-length using the Besnard Lakes’ Jace Lasek at Breakglass Studios within their house town of Montreal. Upon Lasek’s suggestion, the ten-song outing Zeroes QC got the interest of Secretly Canadian, and Suuns agreed upon to the label in the fall of 2010. That Oct the album premiered, just like the group began touring using the Besnard Lakes and Property of Chat. Sophomore effort Pictures du Futur came three years afterwards, further discovering the dark noises the band started on its debut. The record was contained in the longlist for the 2013 Polaris Music Award. It had been 2015 when Secretly Canadian released a collaborative record which Suuns and friend Radwan Ghazi Moumneh of Jerusalem in my own Heart had started function in 2012. The long-labored record got years to full, and discovered the band’s minimal digital strategy winding around Moumneh’s Arabic affects and complementary synthesizer sensibilities. Suuns after that documented their third correct album with manufacturer John Congleton at his Dallas studio room. Incorporating more consumer electronics in to the group’s sound, Keep/Still made an appearance on Secretly Canadian in Apr of 2016.
