Biography

Susanna as well as the Magical Orchestra are in fact the Norwegian duo of singer Susanna Wallumrød and keyboardist Morten Qvenild. The set began performing jointly in Norway in 2000, having a unique mixture of atmospheric jazz, rock and roll, and electronica. Several their tracks made an appearance on Rune Grammofon’s intricate book and Compact disc sampler Cash Will Spoil Everything in 2003. The duo’s extremely praised full-length debut, Set of Lighting and Buoys, made an appearance from Rune Grammofon in 2004. The record was made by Deathprod (Helge Sten), and Andreas Mjos (like Qvenild, a experienced of the group Jaga Jazzist) was drafted directly into help flesh out the sound. An atmospheric masterpiece of arctic spirit, List of Lamps and Buoys presented deconstructed and reassembled addresses of Dolly Parton’s’ “Jolene” and Leonard Bernstein’s “Who Am I,” and drew rave evaluations from critics.
