Along with rings like Religious Death, .45 Grave, and Pompeii 99, the Superheroines helped spawn the so-called death rock scene in LA through the early ’80s. Like their peers, the all-female band’s music experienced a goth advantage, but was influenced chiefly by punky, Runaways-style metallic. Guitarist/vocalist Eva O. (given birth to Eva Oritz) experienced previously played within the Velocity Queens, and became a member of up with bassist Jill Emery and drummer China to create the Superheroines in 1981. They produced their documented debut that 12 months with two songs around the seminal loss of life rock and roll compilation Hell Involves YOUR HOME, which also presented the very first recordings by Christian Loss of life; the following 12 months, Eva O. sang back-up vocals on Christian Death’s 1st recording, Only Theater of Pain. In the mean time, the Superheroines became a member of the small regional label Bemis Mind and issued their very own debut LP, Cry for Help, in 1982 aswell. It was adopted a year later on by Souls That Conserve. The band do focus on another recording, but though it was by no means released, Eva O. continuing to business lead them until 1987, when she wedded ex-Christian Loss of life vocalist Rozz Williams, relocated to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, and shaped the goth-oriented Darkness Task with him. Jill Emery used Shadow Project through the early ’90s, and caused Gap and Mazzy Superstar aswell. In 1993, Cleopatra released the Superheroines compilation Like and Discomfort, which featured uncommon, live, and unreleased materials (a few of it through the band’s never-finished record).
