Supagroup

Biography

A raucous four-piece located in New Orleans, Supagroup focuses on anthemic rock and roll & move in the time-honored custom of AC/DC. Led by Alaskan brothers Chris Lee (bass, vocals) and Benji Lee (electric guitar, vocals), the music group first made an appearance in Anchorage, AK, being a stripped-down trio. 3 years after issuing the self-released Planetrock in 1996, the music group reemerged with a fresh lineup — today comprising the Lee brothers, Tag Brill (drums), and Leif Swift (bass) — and a fresh hometown of New Orleans. The energetic live record We Found Rock You premiered in 1999, along with a 7″ one, When in Rome, implemented in 2001. Rock and roll & Move Tried to Mess up MY ENTIRE LIFE, the band’s initial full-length studio work in five years, was released in limited amounts later that calendar year; it could also mark the finish of Brill’s tenure using the music group. Drummer Michael Brueggen was enlisted to displace the departing musician, and Supagroup reprised a lot of their road-tested strikes on 2003’s self-titled discharge (their initial for the L.A.-structured Foodchain Records). Guidelines implemented in 2005, offering cover art which was highly similar to Bruce Lee’s Enter the Dragon, however the causing tour was trim brief when Hurricane Katrina besieged the band’s hometown that same summer months. Supagroup’s prospects appeared bleak within the aftermath of Katrina, which acquired still left New Orleans in shambles and briefly rendered party music outdated. An individual invitation to tour alongside Alice Cooper (with whom the music group acquired toured the prior year) persuaded Supagroup going to the road once again, and a following European tour helping the Backyard Infants restored Supagroup’s previous energy. Fireplace for Hire premiered in fall 2007 on Foodchain Information, offering the band’s now-familiar odes to females and rock and roll & roll.
