The three-piece Sacramento, CA, music group Suncatcher met the same manner that a lot of bands have before, by way of a newspaper ad. It had been an ad within the well-known Recycler paper that brought the music group (Doug Hammond — electric guitar/vocals, Brian Knight — bass, and Roy Murray — drums) jointly within the middle-’90s, with Hammond getting the band’s unofficial head and key songwriter. Restless Information, who released their alterna-pop debut Owlflower in 1996, agreed upon the music group on the effectiveness of their early demos, while Suncatcher received raves from Billboard, Musician, Demand, and other mags. The follow-up, THE LADY That God Forgot, was a straight stronger release, without doubt because of the fact that the music group could grow like a device together within the last year or two. Suncatcher includes a sound much like early R.E.M. (Hammond noises eerily like Michael Stipe sometimes).
