Sumie

Gothenburg, Sweden-based vocalist/songwriter Sumie writes delicate, personal songs that require bit more than her tone of voice and classical guitar to make a direct effect. Blessed Sandra Sumie Nagano to a Swedish mom and Japanese dad (as well as the sister of Small Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano), Sumie trained herself to try out electric guitar and sing; after spending time traveling and learning to be a mom, she began documenting her music in her bedroom in 2008. She released a set of EPs on Bandcamp, 2010’s Transit and 2012’s Let’s Obtain Lost, before putting your signature on to Bella Union, the label of previous Cocteau Twin Simon Raymonde. She documented her 2013 self-titled debut for the label with pianist Nils Frahm and maker Dustin O’Halloran.
