Sullivan Fortner

New Orleans pianist Sullivan Fortner can be an adept, award-winning jazz musician and composer having a bent toward advanced post-bop. Given birth to in New Orleans in 1986, Fortner 1st started playing piano around age group four. He was playing in chapel groups by enough time he was nine, with 13 he signed up for the famous New Orleans Middle for Innovative Arts (NOCCA). As an adolescent Fortner excelled at piano, generating scholarships to both Vail Jazz Institute and Skidmore Jazz Research summer applications. Having graduated from both NOCCA and his regular senior high school (where he was Valedictorian), he perfected his art by generating a bachelor’s level from your Oberlin Conservatory of Music and, later on, a master’s level from your Manhattan College of Music. Fortner has generated an impressive set of credits, carrying out and documenting with such luminaries as vibraphonist Stefon Harris, trumpeter Theo Croker, saxophonist Donald Harrison, trumpeter Roy Hargrove, as well as others. In 2015, Fortner received the American Pianists Association Cole Porter Fellowship in Jazz. Also in 2015, he released his debut recording as innovator, Aria, on Impulse!
