Sukpatch

The Minneapolis-based indie-pop duo Sukpatch comprised small-town Southerners Chris Heidman and Stephen Cruze, who created a novel amalgamation of lo-fi pop, samples, and hip-hop beats. The set began recording music in the home on inexpensive equipment in the first ’90s, transferring cassettes of their function around to a group of friends. Shortly they were launching records in the Seattle indie label Slabco, like the 1996 record Haulin’ Ass and Smokin’ Lawn as well as the 1997 EP Honky Tonk Procedure, as well as much 7″ singles. They ultimately caught the interest from the Beastie Guys’ Grand Royal label and agreed upon on in 1998, issuing the relatively more elaborately created EP Connect Down That Gleaming Wave in 1999.
