Sugarcult

The Santa Barbara, CA, alternative rock quartet Sugarcult (singer/guitarist Tim Pagnotta, guitarist Marko DeSantis, bassist Airin Older, and original drummer Ben Davis (who was simply later on replaced by Kenny Livingston) took their name from a moniker that lesbian neighbors who lived nearby to the strap called themselves. Developing in 1998, the band’s 1st display (a trio at that time) was starting for Superdrag at an area club. It had been here which they fulfilled DeSantis — who’d previously used such bands because the Ataris, Nerf Herder, and Swingin’ Utters — and he quickly moved from target audience to bandmember. Sugarcult debuted on Ultimatum in 2001 with Begin Static and obtained hits using the tunes “Stuck in the us” and “Jumping From the Wall space.” They jumped within the summer’s Warped Tour for what must have been fourteen days, but lover response was so positive, the music group wound up remaining for the whole 8 weeks. The DVD Actions made an appearance in 2002; Davis exited the group the next year to become changed by ex-Lefty drummer Kenny Livingston. Jumping to Fearless Information, the somewhat darker Palm Trees and shrubs and Power Lines adopted in 2004 and peaked at number 1 on Billboard’s Best Independent Albums graph. Sugarcult released the live Compact disc/DVD Back again to the Catastrophe a year later on. The guys continuing to hone their chops on the highway; they earned an area as openers for Green Day’s American Idiot tour, required top billing within the 2005 DO SOMETHING Tour, and strike the main phases of celebrations like Warped Tour, Japan’s Summer time Sonic Festival, as well as the U.K.’s Glastonbury, Reading, and Leeds celebrations. Sugarcult’s most concentrated effort up to now, Lights Out, made an appearance in Sept 2006 on V2.
