Salt Lake Town, Utah’s SubRosa extrapolate upon sludge, doom, and stoner rock and roll foundations with contrasting components drawn from goth, psych, indie rock and roll, and, thanks partly with their predominantly feminine lineup, an nearly subliminal post-riot grrrl vibe on top of that. Despite roots achieving dating back to 2005, the band’s full-length demonstration and first record, Strega, both surfaced in 2008, also to blended testimonials, since SubRosa had been still refining their audio and dealing with lineup instability throughout, also up to the next year’s Swans Trapped in Glaciers EP. But, once founding associates Rebecca Vernon (electric guitar, vocals) and Sarah Pendleton (violin, vocals) became a member of forces with brand-new bandmembers Kim Pack (vocals), Dave Jones (bass), and Zach Hatsis (drums), SubRosa actually strike their stride, creating a sophomore full-length cryptically entitled No Help for the Mighty Types that found discharge through leading indie steel label Profound Lore in early 2011, this time around to main acclaim inside the rock community.
