Stylus

Stylus may be the pseudonym of reclusive Welsh experimentalist Dafydd Morgan, who also began using the name in Apr 1997. After many split produces (including “Kinski,” his tribute to acting professional Klaus Kinski) and different compilation tracks made an appearance on various types (mostly vinyl fabric), the initial Stylus full-length record was 1999’s THE FINAL Seaweed Collecting Hut at Freshwater Western world. Morgan had discovered the last seaweed collecting hut, on the bluff called Small Furzenip in Pembrokeshire, Western world Wales. It had been still being utilized by regional families to dry seaweed they afterwards used to create into bread; every one of the others have been ruined by period, tide, and solid Atlantic winds. Morgan apparently sat at a desk in the hut with battery-operated Roland and Casiotone keyboards and produced spontaneous recordings motivated with the windswept area. The discharge also features visitor narration from Christine Vidoudez. In 1998, Morgan became a member of the Serpents, a cooperation of artists in the Ochre roster. 2000’s Skomargraph also highlighted a track documented live inside in the seaweed hut. Morgan also drew upon his travels to Skomer Isle, off the Western world Wales coast and its own surrounding region, for motivation. Stylus’ Mynydd Preseli Compact disc — released in 2002 on Mar/ino — was called for the Preseli Mountains of Wales, presumed to become the origin from the 80 Bluestones which were carried to Stonehenge in Britain. The concept record was the ultimate section of Stylus’ Pembrokeshire-themed trilogy and musically evoked the desolation from the mountainscapes and their importance to arcane druid mythology. Stylus’ Archif:01 Compact disc, released in past due 2001, was the initial quantity inOchre’s Archive Series collecting non-album Stylus recordings on different labels, given that they debuted through their “Pluen Eira” (an Ochre Xmas 7″) in Dec 2000. The record carries a remix by labelmates Longstone.
