English pop band Straw was shaped by Bristol university mates Mattie Bennett (vocals/guitar) and Roger Power (bass); growing to some trio with the help of keyboardist Duck, the group — originally dubbed Make sure you — quickly authorized to Arista, and then be dropped from the label actually before issuing their 1st single. Adding previous Kings of Infinite Space drummer Andy Nixon and rechristening themselves Straw, the group got at WEA and released its debut solitary “Strange Superman” in the summertime of 1998; three even more singles — “The Aeroplane Track,” “Shifting to California” and “Soundtrack of the summertime” — adopted in 1999 before Straw released its 1st full-length work, Shoplifting; upon conclusion of the recording, Power was dismissed from your lineup.
