When former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr joined Praying Mantis in 1985 the brand new band became referred to as Stratus – the rest of the personnel composed of Bernie Shaw (vocals), Tino Troy (electric guitar), Alan Nelson (keyboards), and Chris Troy (bass). Leaving the formularized New Influx Of British ROCK approach, Stratus utilized the extensive usage of keyboards and multi-part vocal harmonies. They debuted with Throwing Forms, a lacklustre pomp-rock record missing both in energy and quality music. The record fared badly as well as the band split soon after it had been released. Bernie Shaw continued to become listed on Uriah Heep.
