Stone Country

Stone Nation was a Hollywood, CA-based psychedelic country-rock clothing led by gifted vocalist/songwriter and guitarist Steve Little. Young, who was raised within the south, shifted to NEW YORK in the first ’60s, where he became associated with the burgeoning Greenwich Community folk music picture. He later shifted to LA in 1964 and started working with Truck Dyke Parks and Stephen Stills while still functioning his day work being a mailman. He shaped Stone Nation in 1967 and shortly thereafter the music group was agreed upon to RCA Information. After releasing many singles, RCA released the group’s just album, Stone Nation, in March 1968, made by Rick Jarrard, who also created Jefferson Aircraft and Harry Nilsson’s Pandemonium Darkness Show. (Incidentally, Rock Country made an appearance as themselves in Otto Preminger’s 1968 film Skidoo, which includes a rating by Nilsson). The group disbanded when, in 1969, Youthful signed like a single designer with A&M Information. His album Rock and roll Salt & Fingernails featured cameo shows by Wayne Burton, Gene Clark, Gram Parsons, and Chris Hillman. In 1971, Small authorized to Reprise, and finally recorded some critically acclaimed albums within the country-rock design, his most well-known track becoming “Seven Bridges Street,” documented by Rita Coolidge, Joan Baez, as well as the Eagles. Clark — an associate of the brand new Christy Minstrels and the nice Time Performers before becoming a member of this music group — went single and documented for Imperial and Republic Information. Don Beck continued to become listed on Dillard & Clark, while Denny Conway became a program drummer. Stone Nation is not released on Compact disc and LP copies are useful and extremely collectible.
