Steven Osgood

Steven Osgood can be an American conductor. At age 4 he began monitoring the piano and performing, and on the way found the clarinet, horn, trumpet, and tuba. As a grown-up, he was drawn to theatre, and after going after his undergraduate research at Drew University or college, he became a member of the Irondale Outfit, an improvisational theatre company in NY. He became the ensemble’s 1st music director and finally discovered a solid desire for opera. Pursuing his use Irondale, he became an apprentice trainer and pianist with Opera North in New Hampshire, and kept positions with NY Town’s Amato Opera, the Bronx Opera, and the brand new Amsterdam Singers. Fascination with modern music brought Osgood into connection with Tan Dun, whose Marco Polo, The Peony Pavilion, as well as the Crouching Tiger Concerto had been tasks he helped prepare. In the 2006-2007 period from the Metropolitan Opera, he was helper conductor of Tan’s opera, The First Emperor. Various other operas he provides conducted consist of Alban Berg’s Wozzeck, Francis Poulenc’s Dialogues from the Carmelites, Kaija Saariaho’s L’amour de loin, Hans Werner Henze’s Venus und Adonis, and Bright Sheng’s Madame Mao. He led the globe premiere of Jonathan Sheffer’s Bloodstream on the DINING AREA Floor, as well as the American premiere from the chamber edition of Tobias Picker’s Thérèse Raquin.
