Steve Walker & the Bold

In another of those discographical glitches that tortures the want lists of unhealthily obsessive collectors, the 1960s group common as the Bold issued records under three different names. Their 1st single was acknowledged towards the Daring; the next to Steve Walker & the Daring, the billed frontman becoming their bassist and lead vocalist; and then merely Daring, under which name they released an record in 1969. The one acknowledged to Steve Walker & the Daring, “The Teach Kept A Rollin'”/”Present What I WANTED,” was released on Dynovoice in 1967. The A-side is certainly a brutal cover from the classic frequently from the Yardbirds; the turn is a relatively boring Steve Walker-penned blues. Both edges from the single are available on the Daring compilation Lullaby Opus Four, which also includes the complete 1969 record by Daring, both edges of the last single with the Daring, and both edges from the middle-’60s single with the Esquires, who advanced into the Daring.
