Steve James

Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter Steve Adam has carved a distinct segment for himself within the acoustic and folk-blues picture through a whole lot of touring. He’s constructed his group of fans the old-fashioned method, minus the support of a global record company advertising machine. Adam, who plays Country wide steel electric guitar, mandolin, and banjo, got addicted to blues being a 12-year-old. Recently, he’s been associated with the Portland, Oregon-based Burnside Information label and released Boom Chang in 2000. Burnside released a 2003 launch, Fast Tx, which includes many Texas-centric tunes about where Wayne has spent the final 25 years of his existence. He’s accompanied around the recording by various other Tx transplants, including Cindy Cashdollar on metal and dobro acoustic guitar, and Ruthie Foster and Cyd Cassone on vocals. An excellent sampling of Wayne’ inspired initial songs are available on Fast Tx, in addition to crafty interpretations of tunes by Hop Wilson, Milton Dark brown, and Small Hat Jones. Cashdollar, Gary Primich, and Alvin Youngblood Hart also accompany Wayne on Growth Chang. Wayne’ acoustic guitar, mandolin, and slip guitar playing could be noticed on recordings by Wayne McMurtry, Angela Strehli, Ana Egge, as well as the Poor Livers. Wayne has also documented an instructional video on acoustic blues acoustic guitar and contributed publication articles to CLASSICAL GUITAR publication. His instructional publication, Origins and Blues Fingerstyle was released by CLASSICAL GUITAR.
