Biography
Probably one of the most successful hip-hop functions to emerge from THE UK, Stereo system MC’s formed in London in 1985, when rapper Rob B. (created Rob Birch) and DJ/maker the top (Nick Hallam) created the Gee Road label as a way of advertising their music. Gee Road soon authorized a distribution cope with the brand new York-based 4th & Broadway label, and some singles adopted before Stereo system MC’s’ debut recording, 33-45-78, surfaced in 1989. Following the departure of founding member Cesare, the group — right now comprising Rob B., the top, drummer Owen If (created Owen Rossiter), and vocalist Cath Coffey — released the 1990 solitary “Elevate My Brain,” which became the very first British rap solitary ever to attain the U.S. pop graphs.
