Stephen Fretwell

Born in the city of Scunthorpe in 1981, British vocalist/songwriter Stephen Fretwell was introduced to the music of Bob Dylan in a young age group. Using a lent electric guitar from his grandparents, the youthful artist began composing his own music and produced tapes for his relatives and buddies. After an aborted attempt at school lifestyle — he lasted two times — Fretwell relocated to Manchester, where his apparent northern tone of voice, poetic lyrics, and melodic electric guitar work soon gained him an market. After getting a very much sought-after starting gig with regional heroes Elbow, the today 21 year previous began launching his music on the friend’s North Ambition label. 8 Music, the Something’s Gotta Provide EP, as well as the Lines, all released between 2001 and 2003, became collector’s products and brought Fretwell to the eye from the press. He agreed upon to Friction Information in 2003 and released his initial full-length, Magpie, in November, documented at Abbey Street studios in London. Fretwell documented the follow-up to his debut record, Man on the top, in NEW YORK; it had been released in 2007.
