Stephan Crump

Stephan Crump, equally adept on acoustic and electrical bass, leads his personal jazz quartet in addition to a power groove ensemble called Lavabox. Crump was raised in Memphis, TN, and received a bachelor of music level from Amherst University in 1994. Immediately after graduating, he toured the U.S. and Canada using the Tommy Dorsey Music group. Then relocated to NY and became a member of the quartet of trumpeter Marvin Stamm. His resumé like a flexible sideman quickly grew to add Sonny Lot of money, Johnny Copeland, Bobby Previte, Vijay Iyer, Liberty Ellman, Big Ass Pickup truck, and Kevn Kinney, amongst others. Crump also composes music for Television and film. His quartet released its elegant, soft-spoken debut, Poems & OTHER ACTIVITIES, in 1997. Lavabox released a self-titled Compact disc in 1998.
