Stepdad

Digital pop group Stepdad shaped in the summertime of 2009 when roommates Ryan McCarthy and Tag “Ultramark” Tafel began recording within their Chicago apartment. Getting started like a duo, the music group first attained a modicum of mass publicity this year 2010 through their theme track for internet comic Axe Cop. The group relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan later on that 12 months and extended their lineup to add bassist Alexander Fives and drummer Jeremy Malvin. The group self-released their 1st EP Ordinaire digitally, and toured regionally to get the discharge. Support slot machines for competent bands like Interest Pit and Fitz & the Tantrums helped provide Stepdad towards the interest of more enthusiasts. By Sept of 2011, Ordinaire was re-released with two reward paths on Michigan/Brooklyn label Quite Scientific. The music group continuing to tour thoroughly and added another theme tune to Atom.com internet series Best Rope. The next year, the music group finished focus on debut full-length Animals Pop with manufacturer Chris Zane (the Walkmen, Holy Ghost!, Friendly Fires, Interest Pit). They agreed upon to Warner Bros. subsidiary label Dark Bell Records as well as the album premiered in June of 2012. That summertime while performing in the Vans’ Warped Tour, multi-instrumentalist Nathan K became a member of the group. Immediately after, Malvin parted methods with Stepdad to pursue his very own project Stainless- Sparks, changed by drummer Ben Weissenborn. They released another EP in 2014, Unusual Tonight, and experienced another lineup modification using the departure of Fives. In 2015, as the music group prepared because of their following full-length, their tour truck was damaged into and several of their recordings had been lost on the stolen hard disk drive. They salvaged four finished tracks that could go on to be their next formal discharge, the 2016 EP Masterbeast Theater which highlighted the first one “Marquis Marq.”
