Stepan Ivanovich Davïdov

Sarti was Davidov’s initial important music trainer. On the St. Petersburg Crisis School he trained singing and constructed music for the stage. Although he had written some sacred functions his power was within the operatic compositions. The usage of Russian folk music in his functions is an obvious sign of pre-Romantic tendencies. A few of his early functions included ballets that have been most likely danced when Alexander I found power.
