Stefan Scaggiari

A talented, contemporary, straight-ahead pianist who’s much less well-known as he ought to be, Stefan Scaggiari’s string of Concord recordings display him at his best. He performed piano in organizations during senior high school and went to the Eastman College of Music which he graduated from in 1968. Quickly he had received the audition to try out piano with america Marine Music group in Washington, D.C., showing up regularly in the White colored Home (including at Duke Ellington’s 70th party) with important features. After generating a Master’s Level from Peabody Conservatory and getting away from the armed service, he was a semi-finalist within the Vehicle Cliburn Competition in 1973. For this period, Scaggiari made a decision to dedicate himself to jazz although he continuing playing traditional music (with the brand new World Players as well as the Country wide Symphony), made a full time income playing pop music, and spent annually in NY working being a studio room musician. He transferred to Annapolis, Maryland in 1985 where he became the home pianist for the Ruler of France Tavern, associated such visiting performers as Phil Woods, Jimmy Witherspoon, Ernestine Anderson, Carol Sloane, Supplement Ellis, and Charlie Byrd. Within the 1980s, Scaggiari was the standard pianist for Country wide Community Radio’s Weekend Model. After going to Japan with Carol Sloane in 1990 (the Fujitsu Concord Jazz Celebration tour), he was agreed upon to Concord. In 1991, he started documenting for Concord, both being a head (three CDs had been trim by 1995) with Carol Sloane.
