Vapor Powered Giraffe certainly are a theatrical steampunk outfit from NORTH PARK, California. Shaped by similar twins David and Isabella “Bunny” Bennett, they add a variety of components into their work including tracks, sketches, pantomime, and improvised dialogue, all centered around a more elaborate and ever-evolving imaginary backstory. Their tale started in the theatre arts system at Grossmont University where in fact the Bennetts fulfilled Erin Burke and Jon Sprague. The quartet started developing their stage personas as quirky, robotic road performers known as Peoplebots in early 2008. Ultimately implementing the name Vapor Driven Giraffe, they released the Victorian-era automatic robot characters that could populate their music and stage display, you start with 2009’s Recording One. Playing sort of story-driven vaudevillian folk-pop, the recording introduced The Backbone (David Bennett) on vocals, acoustic guitar, and bass, Rabbit (Bunny Bennett) on vocals, accordion, and secrets, The Jon (Sprague) on vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, and drums, and Update (Burke) on vocals and tambourine. They toured both theatrical and musical locations and became well-known in the steampunk community, playing Sci Fi, Illusion, and steampunk conventions, and in past due 2011 they released their initial live record, Live at the world of Yesterday’s Tomorrow. Before the album’s discharge, Burke had still left the music group citing personal factors. The second studio room record, The 2¢ Present, premiered in 2012 and Sprague still left the group soon after. His personality was replaced with the group’s touring drummer, Samuel Luke, who assumed the automatic robot persona of Hatchworth. A cover of Rihanna’s “Diamond jewelry” premiered as an individual in 2013, accompanied by their third record, MK III, by the end of the entire year. In early 2014, Bunny Bennett started began to changeover her Rabbit persona from man to feminine to reveal her personal change to a trans girl. The character’s change was explained within their backstory that involves her robot’s invention in 1896 with a noted NORTH PARK inventor personality called Colonel Peter A. Walter. 2014 also noticed the discharge of Dvd movie & concert record from 2013 known as Live on the Robotics Expo. Their 4th studio record, a suggested sci-fi/space concept record to be entitled Vice Quadrant, was anticipated in 2015.
