Static-X’s roots track towards the Midwest, where vocalist/guitarist Wayne Static was raised in Michigan and drummer Ken Jay in Illinois. They finished up in Chicago individually and met in the record shop where Jay worked well, introduced one to the other by Smashing Pumpkins vocalist Billy Corgan. Static and Jay made a decision to mind western to California and begin up a fresh band.
