State of Play

Condition of Play was a funk-based pop music group that included Dean Garcia, Tony Halliday, Olle Romo, and Julie Fletcher (Garcia’s wife). Garcia and Halliday have been introduced to one another by Dave Stewart of Eurythmics. Garcia experienced performed bass in Stewart’s group and Halliday have been an acquaintance of Stewart since becoming noticed by him on tv in the first ’80s. The group released one ill-fated record for Virgin, 1986’s Balancing the Scales, before phoning it quits. Halliday either remaining or was kicked from the band because of an issue using the band’s administration before the staying members made a decision to quit. After lawsuits and some years spent from one another, Halliday and Garcia re-teamed for Curve.
