Stan Greig

b. Stanley Mackay Grieg, 12 August 1930, Edinburgh, Scotland. A gifted pianist and experienced drummer, Greig started playing in his city where his college close friends and fellow music artists included Al Fairweather and Sandy Dark brown. He performed both piano and drums with Dark brown in the mid-to past due 40s and by the middle-50s was founded within the London jazz picture, working mainly in traditional jazz organizations. Until the past due 60s he mainly performed drums but thereafter was noticed more regularly on piano, the device with which he discovered his true, special voice. Once more he stayed mainly in the original repertoire but also produced and led the London Jazz Big Music group, where Fairweather also performed. In the past due 80s he was with Humphrey Lyttelton with whom he previously first performed in the middle-50s. A good, blues-based pianist, Greig can be an extremely interesting soloist so that as a music group member understands few equals in his field. Rhythmically forceful, probably due to his drumming, he enhances every tempo section where he works.
