Apparently a UK duo comprising Beverley Thomas and Osmond Wright, the true power in back of the Spirits are actually the production powerhouse of Damon Rochefort (b. c.1965, Cardiff, Wales; ex-Nomads, etc.) and Aaron Friedman. The group’s debut solitary, ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’, presented soaring gospel vocals with shiny piano interludes and immediately became a popular on the united kingdom dance floors. In addition, it became that rarity in UK dance conditions: it effectively crossed to the US graphs where it climbed to #1 1. This arrived as a nice shock to Thomas and Wright, the second option having been plucked from semi-obscurity inside a gospel group where he previously been composing his own materials. The follow-up solitary, ‘Soul Inside’, noticed them do it again their achievement in the first 90s.
