LA heavies Spineshank began in Feb of 1996, growing through the ashes of the previous music group, Simple Enigma (including potential Spineshankers Johnny Santos on vocals, Mike Sarkisyan on guitars, and Tom Decker on drums). Simple Enigma split up upon hearing Demanufacture, the 1996 launch by electro-metallists Dread Factory, but quickly re-formed having a different audio and moniker, and a fresh bassist (Robert Garcia). The music group soon befriended Dread Manufacturing plant guitarist Dino Cazares, who upon hearing their demonstration, offered the brand new music group to open up a display for F.F. in the Whiskey A-Go-Go in LA. This resulted in other coveted starting slot machines (with such well-known functions as Coal Chamber, Snot, Soulfly, Sepultura, and Danzig, amongst others), and label curiosity, with Roadrunner ultimately signing the music group. Their debut, Purely Diesel, premiered in Sept of 1998, and presented another tie-in making use of their preferred music group: Fear Manufacturing plant vocalist Burton C. Bell sings around the monitor “Stain.” Elevation of Callousness adopted two years later on.
