Biography

This UK-based alternative hip-hop duo comprises two DJ-producers, Matt Smooth and Rob Macintosh. They fulfilled when Smooth proved helpful within a London drum store and Mac proved helpful to get a drum producer. In 1995, they set up ‘Damage’, among the UK’s leading hip-hop membership evenings. Their debut, Bespoke made an appearance in Feb 2001 in the reputed breakbeat label Best Dilemma, that is also house to Mercury Award nominees, No 7. Speeka’s audio occupies an identical moody and eclectic place to the last mentioned band. Bespoke got in influences type blues, jazz, hiphop and spirit and highlighted three vocalists, Randolf Matthews, Valerie Perkins and Alison David. Roger Robinson also added spoken-word incantations, likened by some to Dr. John and Terry Callier. The record also highlighted a cover edition from the Clash’s ‘London Contacting’.
