American-born, Canadian-based Sondra Radvanovsky is certainly often cited among the great Verdi sopranos of her period. She’s sung a number of Verdi jobs to important acclaim: Aida, Leonora (Il Trovatore), Elisabetta (Don Carlo), and Elvira (Ernani). But her repertory is certainly hardly limited by Verdi, since it consumes Puccini (Tosca), Mozart (Donna Anna from Don Giovanni), Donizetti (Lucrezia Borgia), Dvorák (Rusalka), Bizet (Micaela from Carmen), Tchaikovsky (Tatiana from Eugene Onegin), and many more. Radvanovsky has made an appearance in a lot more than 140 shows in the Met and sung several times in the main opera homes in Europe, like the Vienna Condition Opera, Paris Opera, Teatro alla Scala, and Covent Backyard. Shows from the last mentioned production had been captured on video for the acclaimed 2009 Naxos Compact disc from the opera. Radvanovsky’s initial solo documenting, a Compact disc of Verdi arias in the Delos label, was released in springtime 2010.
