Solstice

Although these were initially touted to check out Heaven Lost and Anathema as leading lights of British doom steel in to the 1990s, Solstice (never to be confused using the American modern proggies using the same name) released only two albums and one EP before vanishing from sight over the eve of the brand new millennium. Produced by vocalist Simon Matravers almost a decade previously, Solstice also included guitarists Richard M. Walker and John Piras, bassist Lee “Chaz” Netherwood, and drummer Lennaert Roomer with the discharge of their sorrowful Candlelight Information debut, Lamentations, in 1994. The Halcyon EP (offering guitarist Gian Pyres, afterwards of Cradle of Filth) implemented the next calendar year, but many business-related and inner difficulties postponed Solstice’s second full-length, New Dark Age group, until 1998. At that time, only two primary associates (Walker and Netherwood) continued to be, and regardless of the assisting hands of brand-new arrivals Morris Ingram (vocals), Hamish Hamilton Glencross (electric guitar), and Rick Budby (drums), the record would ultimately end up being Solstice’s last.
