Sofia Laiti

A Finnish immigrant that has lived in the U.S. since 1991, Sofia Laiti shows much promise like a jazz vocalist and interpreter of lyrics. Laiti, who was simply originally from north Finland and later on resided in Helsinki, experienced sung with numerous Finnish players when she visited NY in Sept 1989 to record her debut recording for CBS’ Finnish department, Manhattan Remembrances, which presented saxman Scott Robinson, pianist Larry Ham, bassist Ray Drummond, and drummer Klaus Suonsaari. Laiti continuing to reside in Finland until 1991, when she produced a permanent proceed to NY and tackled the Manhattan golf club scene. The unique vocalist, whose Scandinavian accent provides a particular smokiness to her function, followed Manhattan Remembrances with two CDs on her behalf own Midnight Sunlight label: 1994’s Inspira (which boasted John Hicks on piano) and 1995’s The Midnight Sunlight Will Never Arranged. Documented when Laiti was seven or eight weeks pregnant with her child, Susan, the second option was made by tenor sax dynamo Houston Person and presented him prominently.
