Folksingers don’t usually produce best-selling albums, but Sweden’s Sofia Karlsson can be an exemption. Her breakthrough disk, Svarta Ballader (Dark Ballads), sold an astounding 60,000 copies — a large amount on her behalf homeland — and brought her the Swedish exact carbon copy of a Grammy. What managed to get especially remarkable may be the undeniable fact that the tracks had been interpretations of poems with the Swedish poet Dan Andersson, barely materials with mass charm.
