Smoosh

Tween indie rock and roll duo Smoosh formed in Seattle in 2002. At that time, eight-year-old Chloe (last name withheld) was students on the Seattle Drum College whose trainer Jason McGerr (afterwards the drummer in Loss of life Cab for Cutie) recommended she start collaborating with various other fledgling musicians to raised understand the function of percussion in rock and roll music. Chloe merely went house and began using her ten-year-old sister Asya, who despite stopping piano lessons was today writing her very own clever, buoyant music on her key pad. Dubbing the task Smoosh, the sisters documented a demonstration of Asya’s music, and soon had been staples of the neighborhood live circuit — not merely was the duo asked to perform go on Seattle’s important KEXP, but following that they were asked to open schedules for acts like the aforementioned Loss of life Cab, Sleater-Kinney, and Kitty Power. After putting your signature on to the neighborhood Design 25 label, Smoosh teamed with manufacturer Johnny Sangster to record its 2004 debut record, She Like Electric powered. In 2006, the sisters agreed upon with indie stalwart Barsuk, which released their second record, Absolve to Stay, exactly the same year.
