A lively and wildly spirited country-rock sextet hailing from Bakersfield, the Smokin’ Armadillos surprised the record industry by offering a fantastic 150,000 copies of the separately released EP before they ever laid eye on a saving contract. Made up of Scott Meeks (electric guitar, vocals), Rick Russell (business lead vocals), Darrin Kirkindoll (drums), Arron Casida (bass, vocals), and fiddle champ Jason Theiste, the music group formed through the summertime of 1992, with four from the group’s six people knowing one another from senior high school.
