Smittens

The Smittens were a Burlington, Vermont-based twee pop music group using a jones for the most common: Beat Taking place, Belle & Sebastian, the Archies, and Magnetic Areas. The band officially started around 2002, following the dissolution of keyboardist/vocalist Dana Kaplan and vocalist Potential Andrucki’s previous task, the Archibalds. Nevertheless, it didn’t completely emerge until a yr later on, when Kaplan came back from a vacation abroad and jelled inside a lineup that also included drummer Holly Chagnon, guitarist Colin Clary, and bassist David Zacharis. The quintet started gigging regionally and positioned a few songs on compilations, most designated by cutesy co-ed vocals, lighthearted instrumentation, as well as the band’s earning make of snarky, scene-specific laughter (example song game titles: “Doomed, Lo-fi and in Like”; “I Hate Vermont”). In early 2004, the Smittens released their debut LP Gentlefication Right now! on Zacharis’ Dangerfive imprint.
