Smith Dobson

Jazz musician Smith Dobson was a renowned pianist within the South Bay section of California. Dobson originally received his understanding of music at a age group via his mom, who sang and trained him tranquility (his dad was also musical, playing piano and accordion). After going to San Francisco Condition College or university and the College or university from the Pacific, Dobson honed his piano abilities operating the Nevada internet casino circuit. In 1981, Dobson founded what would continue to be San Jose, CA’s, most effective and longest-running annual jazz concerts, the Jazz Series at Backyard City, where he distributed the stage with Stan Getz, Toots Thielmans, and Natural herb Ellis, among numerous others. Dobson also performed by himself, within a trio (which made an appearance in the Monterey Jazz Event from 1984 through 1993), and alongside his wife, jazz vocalist Gail Dobson. Furthermore to showing up on several albums by additional performers, Dobson also released his personal albums — 1986’s Smithzonian, 1988’s Live at Backyard Town, and Sasha Bossa — and in 1995, he was the presented pianist on arranger Ray Brown’s recording, Impressions of Stage Lobos.
