St. Louis rapper/vocalist Smino combines hip-hop with funk and spirit influences, very much like contemporaries Isaiah Rashad, Saba, and Ab-Soul. Blessed Christopher Smith, Jr., he grew up by a family group of music artists that supplied early contact with jazz, blues, and gospel music, which he’d continue to blend along with his very own influences Kanye Western world and Dungeon Family members. A drummer since youth, Smino performed in his cathedral music group before he began rapping.
