Smino

St. Louis rapper/vocalist Smino combines hip-hop with funk and spirit influences, very much like contemporaries Isaiah Rashad, Saba, and Ab-Soul. Blessed Christopher Smith, Jr., he grew up by a family group of music artists that supplied early contact with jazz, blues, and gospel music, which he’d continue to blend along with his very own influences Kanye Western world and Dungeon Family members. A drummer since youth, Smino performed in his cathedral music group before he began rapping. His 1st foray into hip-hop was as one-part from the St. Louis duo YDOC (“Adolescent Dumb and Outta Control”). Later on, he released a single mixtape, SMEEZY DOT COM. After graduating senior high school, he shifted to Chicago to wait Columbia University. There, his cousin, vocalist Drea Smith, released him to additional artists in the neighborhood picture. In 2015, he shaped the music collective No Fatigue with maker Monte Booker, rapper Jay2AintShit, and vocalist Ravyn Lenae. He released his 1st standard EP, the sexually billed S!Ck S!Ck S!Ck, that Oct, quickly following using the Blkjuptr EP, an Andre 3000-esque yoga about cultural alienation.
