Rappers Smilez and Southstar began functioning together in the late ’90s, if they met within the Orlando competitive hip-hop picture. They started to work together sometimes, although these were still mainly known as single performers. They both began ghostwriting for bigger hip-hop acts, actually taking time and energy to perform street team work with various labels. However when *NSYNC maker Dakari suggested which they work together with an recording, they offered it a go on 2002’s Crash the Party.
