Smile 69

Among the shorter lived rings in the rather incestuous Houston pysch picture from the ’90s, Smile 69 was composed of past Schlong Weasel users Ramon Medina and Jim Otterson, with community music artists Marco Saenz, Matthew Thurmond, and Drew Calhoun rounding out the lineup. The music group would record a break up solitary with Houston music group the Mike Gunn (“Clueless, b/w Alisa”), but would quickly become inactive. Ramon Medina would later on found the long term Linus Pauling Quartet (aka the LP4), Jim Otterson and Drew Calhoun would move to previous Mike Gunn frontman John Cramer’s fresh band, Task Grimm. Marco Saenz would ultimately discover himself co-producing Task Grimm’s last record.
