Smarty Pants

Oklahoma natives Smarty Slacks never have been afraid showing their influences on the sleeve, as well as the wide range of music artists they mimic pieces their audio apart brilliantly. Frequently invoking the sensitive psychedelia of fellow Oklahomans the Flaming Lip area while alternately having on the smart nerd-emo of Weezer, this unusual mix is thrown off even more with the sinus delivery of vocalist/guitarist Ryan Bellgardt. Joined up with by fellow guitarist Chris Palmer, keyboardist Jeff Bellgardt, bassist Kyle Granger, and drummer Kyle Martin, Ryan’s house studio became the house bottom for the music group as they began to spread their name through the entire music underground. Their catchy audio easily captured on, sending the group in to the studio to construct their wonderfully entitled EP Phone House in 2001. Helping acts as mixed as Incubus and Wesley Willis, the music group even gained the interest of their heroes in Weezer, who provided their quirky record and playful stage present their public blessing. Trying to outdo themselves, the music group come up with E=MC Hammer in the springtime of 2002 and released it themselves that fall.
