Slow Poisoners

This imaginative SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA pop band was created in the top of Andrew Goldfarb, a writer, musician, and artist possessed by way of a sense from the theatrical as well as the romantic. In 1996, Goldfarb — previously an associate of oddball indie clothing Caroliner — was traveling in Paris when he found out a copy from the publication Memoirs of Remarkable Delusions as well as the Madness of Crowds, compiled by one Charles MacKay in 1841. He proceeded to learn a section entitled “The Sluggish Poisoners,” an awful little tale in regards to a hale and hearty English aristocrat who, during the period of six months, is usually poisoned by his two nefarious opponents. The seductively mystical nature from the tale trapped in Goldfarb’s human brain, and he shortly enlisted older sibling Ed to greatly help record Great Spiders and Gemstone Powder, an record evocative of from monster-filled seas and jungles to wan Western european dandies sipping sherry within an classic dirigible. Using the talents of the bevy of Bay Region music artists, Great Spiders showcases Goldfarb’s elegant songwriting and absurdist lyrical sensibilities and Ed’s penchant for traditional arrangements. The Gradual Poisoners soon advanced into a regular live outfit, made up of Goldfarb on vocals and electric guitar, cellist Mica Pollock, bassist Tim Plicka, and drummer Dan Agrella. Pollock afterwards left the music group and guitarist/keyboardist Full Trott was ushered in. Goldfarb provides shown to be a distinctive performer and established designer; a popular feat was to extricate himself from a straitjacket, while various other gigs had been drowned within a blast of bubbles that made an appearance from a huge papier-mâché mind. He’s also something of the activist: in 2000, he and Trott wandered through San Francisco’s Town Hall wearing only telephone-pole flyers, pleading the reason for free advertising. Afterwards that season Plicka was changed by Christopher Webber.
