Hailing in the Detroit metro area, the trio known collectively as Slot machine (bassist/vocalist Sue Lott, her hubby Billy Rivkin on guitar, and drummer Eddie Alterman) first emerged together in the wintertime of 1991. Immediately after, Slot machine began their documenting career with an individual for the Sympathy for the Record Sector record company, and a full-length debut for the German label Repulsion. Time was removed by the music group to create and record, but from 1992, the music group found time and energy to record two singles and an EP (entitled Fiver) for the indie Third Gear Information. The music group became darlings from the music press, producing an appearance in the cover of an alternative solution Press “Rings to view” issue. Slot machine received more important praise because of their 1995 EP Guideline of :45 (Third Equipment), garnering another great review from AP. Although they didn’t tour as intensely or as much as other substitute bands, Slot machine played with famous brands the Rollins Music group, the Cows, as well as the Afghan Whigs, and made an appearance on Lollapalooza’s second stage. The group released a countrywide tour in 1996, and even though they had documented a full-length record the preceding season, Slot machine disbanded as well as the record went unreleased. Unfortunately, Rivkin passed away of cancers in 2004. Slot’s full-length Special Black Keep finally saw discharge on the tiny Stone Information label in 2006, rising being a valuable tribute both towards the band and its own guitarist.
