Slim Twig

Blessed in Toronto in 1988, Potential Turnbull experienced art college and spent time being a film professional before developing the music persona of Slim Twig in the mid-2000s. Originally a single automobile for his feral sound tests, Turnbull self-released several CD-Rs, you start with 2005’s Livestock Burn off. His early noises included areas of blues-informed rockabilly, tough punk, fuzzy psychedelia, and a good fair quantity of rudimentary sampling and ramshackle beats that sounded patched jointly from thrift shop records. While seeking his solo function, Slim also performed guitar in even more intense punk snarlers Tropics and done occasional film ratings, furthermore to making single work beneath the name Archaic Females. In 2008, Paper Handbag Information released two EPs from Slim Twig, Derelict Dialect and Vernacular Assault, repackaging them both next year as you album-length release, and in addition released Contempt!, the first genuine LP in the project. Twig remained very active over another few years, documenting several smaller-run cassette and EP produces by himself and with Tropics, aswell as starting a collaborative relationship with U.S. Young ladies’ Meghan Remy. Twig and Remy distributed a few divide releases and travels prior to starting a label jointly and eventually engaged and getting married in the summertime of 2012. Twig created U.S. Young ladies’ GEM record that year, aswell as his personal full-length Sof’ Sike. He previously spent quite a while toiling over his thick psychedelic concept recording A Hound in the Hem, that was completed this year 2010 and released in incredibly limited amounts in 2012 on his and Remy’s Calico Corp. label together with Pleasence Information. A Hound in the Hem was eventually reissued in 2014 by DFA. Preceded with a 7″ solitary containing Thin Twig’s cover of Serge Gainsbourg’s “Cannabis,” DFA released his 4th proper full-length MANY THANKS for Stickin’ with Twig in 2015.
