Associates of San Francisco’s fertile acidity jazz scene from the ’90s but also ready to explore the earthier aspect of techno and drum’n’bass, Glide Five includes brothers John and Dave Warrin (on electric guitar and tips, respectively) as well as drummer Man Gershoni and bassist John Christensen. Produced in 1990, the quartet gigged throughout the Bay Region and recorded materials during 1992-93 for the cassette to become sold at displays. Given prime slot machine games on three compilations by Ubiquity Information (Mo’ Cookin’, Still Cookin’ and it is That Jazz?), Glide Five signed using the label in 1995. Their debut discharge, Rhode Trip, recycled monitors from the indie cassette, as the correct Glide Five debut, 1997’s People Areas & Things, uncovered the quartet’s burgeoning curiosity about electronics.
