Trippy rockers Sleepy Sunlight began in 2005, when UC Santa Cruz learners Bret Constantino (vocals), Matt Holliman and Evan Reiss (guitar), Hubert Man (bass), and Brian Tice (drums) shaped the bluesy garage rock act Mania. Nevertheless, the band’s music steadily became even more expansive and eclectic, and by 2007 these were referred to as Sleepy Sunlight. Rachel Fannan of another Santa Cruz work, Wild birds Fled from Me, noticed the band’s initial gig as Sleepy Sunlight and wished to sign up for the group; after seated along with the music group at a gig, they asked her to record with them in Canada, where these were focusing on their debut record with manufacturer Colin Stewart. In summertime 2008, Sleepy Sunlight self-released the record Embrace; soon after, Man still left the group, with Jack port Allen picking right up bass responsibilities. In 2012 the music group came back with third recording Spine Hits, made by Queens from the Stone Age group alumnus Dave Getting. 4th full-length Maui Tears materialized in 2014.
