Following demise of On the Drive-In, singer/guitarist Jim Ward started piecing together the components of Sleepercar, an alt-country group that had taken its cues from Old 97’s and Wilco. Ward was shortly recruited by his previous bandmates to become listed on Sparta, however, as well as the Sleepercar task was pressed to the trunk burner as Sparta’s reputation grew.
