Sivert Høyem

Among Norway’s most enduring performers, Sivert Høyem is most beneficial referred to as the ex – singer of rock-band Madrugada, and a popular single musician and storyteller whose distinctive tone of voice recalls a combined mix of the timbres of Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, and Neil Gemstone. Delivered in 1976, Høyem was raised in Kleiva, a little community near Sortland, in north Norway. He shifted to Oslo to review history and go after music, signing up for his upcoming Madrugada bandmates in 1993. They agreed upon with Virgin Music Norway in 1998 and released their debut, Industrial Silence, in 1999. Winners from the Spellemann (Norwegian Grammy) award, Madrugada released five full-lengths, a live record, and a best-of collection before disbanding in 2008 following the passage of their founding guitarist, Robert Burås. Nevertheless, Høyem’s single career had currently started years before Madrugada’s farewell. His single debut — Girls & Gentlemen from the Opposition — premiered in 2004 as well as the one-off recording Exiles along with his additional music group, the Volunteers, found its way to 2006. After Madrugada’s end, Høyem released three chart-topping albums: 2009’s Moon Getting, 2011’s double-platinum Long Sluggish Range, and 2014’s Endless Like. In 2015, his Crazy West-tinged track “Dark & Platinum” was selected as the theme for the Norwegian strike tv program Okkupert (Occupied). The next 12 months he released his 6th solo recording, Lioness, an individual and nocturnal trip that well developed down the rock and roll muscle mass and amplified the atmospherics encircling his smoky vocals.
